Asian Festival Brings Food, Fun, and Culture to Mesa

The annual and highly anticipated Asian Festival was successfully held on January 31 (Saturday) and February 1 (Sunday), 2026 at Mesa Community College, drawing large crowds to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Horse. As one of Arizona’s most representative Asian cultural events, the festival combined food, performances, cultural exhibits, and family friendly activities, creating a rich and diverse cultural experience.

This year’s festival featured a wide variety of highlights, including traditional Asian dance and music performances, Lunar New Year lion dances, an opening ceremony and flag salutation, food trucks and Asian street food, an Asian Cultural Village and World Cultural Village, arts and crafts displays, Chinese calligraphy activities, a kids’ zone, and a tribute to Asian American veterans. The atmosphere was lively throughout the event.

Several airlines also provided travel information at the festival and hosted raffles for round trip tickets to Asia, which attracted strong interest. STARLUX Airlines and China Airlines each donated round trip tickets to Asia, adding extra excitement to the event.

A long time supporter of the festival, TanHua Inc, once again set up a booth this year, showcasing a selection of high quality ginseng, dried seafood products, and special deals. They promoted traditional Chinese tea culture and Chinese medicine wellness concepts, serving as a platform for cultural exchange and health education. TanHua has supported and participated in the festival for five consecutive years, showing its ongoing commitment to community cultural events.

During the festival, due to the hot weather, TanHua owner Fanny experienced mild heat exhaustion and was unable to continue working on the second day. Still, she shared that she feels honored to have participated in the Asian Festival for many years and to share Chinese wellness culture with the community, and she looks forward to continuing her support in the future.

The Asian Festival is led by founder and chairman Dr. Steve Kaplan and Arizona’s Honorary Consul of Malaysia, Winnie Kho Kaplan. Over the years, they have brought together community groups, businesses, and government partners, and worked with the City of Mesa to help develop the Asian District. The festival has attracted thousands of attendees annually, promoting cultural exchange while also benefiting the local economy, tourism, and small businesses.
