TanHua Inc Hosts 20th Tea Gathering, Sharing Chinese Tea Culture and Wellness Traditions
TanHua Inc recently hosted its 20th tea gathering, welcoming more than 20 friends and tea lovers to a warm and lively event that highlighted the beauty of Chinese tea culture and wellness traditions.
The afternoon began with a graceful erhu performance by Lily, whose soothing music set the tone for the gathering. Fanny, the owner of TanHua Inc, then introduced traditional Chinese New Year snacks and shared details about the specially prepared “Lung Moistening, Calming & Qi Toning Wellness Soup.” She explained the ingredients and the food therapy principles behind the soup, helping guests better understand the wisdom of traditional Chinese dietary culture.
The wellness soup featured white lotus seeds, dried lily bulbs, dried pear, snow fungus (white fungus), and rock sugar. The combination was designed to be gentle and nourishing for daily wellness.

According to Fanny, snow fungus is commonly valued for its moisturizing properties and is believed to help nourish the lungs, support the stomach, and promote healthy skin. Lily bulbs are traditionally used to moisten the lungs and calm the mind. Lotus seeds are often associated with supporting the spleen and kidneys while promoting relaxation. Dried pear is known for helping to soothe the lungs and relieve dryness, while rock sugar balances the flavor and is believed to help moisten the lungs and stomach. Overall, the soup reflects the traditional concept of nourishment that is “gentle but not overpowering.”
The event also included a Chinese tea culture sharing session. One tea enthusiast shared that she has always loved Chinese tea and recently purchased tea ware from the store to learn brewing techniques herself. She described the learning process as both enjoyable and meaningful, especially appreciating the sense of ritual and calm that comes with preparing and tasting tea.

During the event, Fanny introduced the characteristics of Longjing tea and demonstrated the traditional Gongfu tea brewing method, inviting guests to participate and experience the process firsthand. The interactive session created an engaging and lively atmosphere.
Longjing tea, a well known Chinese green tea, is known for its fresh, smooth taste and lingering sweetness. It contains tea polyphenols and vitamins and is often associated with antioxidant properties. Many people enjoy it for its refreshing quality, especially after meals.
Organizers said they hope that through hands on tea culture experiences, more people can learn about the philosophy and wellness wisdom behind Chinese tea and help keep traditional culture alive in modern life.
The gathering also featured lychee and pixiu shaped color changing tea ware, which changes color when hot water is poured in, adding a fun element to the tea experience. Fanny explained that the pixiu, a traditional mythical creature, symbolizes wealth and good fortune, expressing wishes for prosperity in the new year.

To add to the festive spirit, Fanny’s 6-year-old nephew Zhiyun performed a lively mini lion dance, delighting guests with his adorable performance and earning warm applause.
Guests also shared personal stories during the event. One attendee mentioned that his wife previously had multiple colon polyps and was advised by her doctor that surgery might be necessary. After being introduced to dandelion flower tea by Fanny, she began drinking it regularly. At a follow-up colonoscopy, only one polyp remained. The guest said they were encouraged by the improvement and plan to continue the tea as part of their routine.
