United Food Bank发起“百万餐食”募捐活动——Mesa商会呼吁各界积极响应共解社区饥饿难题

今夏，亚利桑那州成千上万的家庭将为下一餐食物发愁。为帮助这些家庭，United Food Bank（联合食品银行）联合12 News电视台与Fry’s Food Stores共同发起第八届年度公益活动——“百万餐食夏季募捐（Summer of a Million Meals）”，目标是在整个夏季筹集超过一百万份餐食，为儿童与弱势家庭提供援助。活动于5月16日启动，将持续至2024年9月2日（劳动节）。

Mesa商会（Mesa Chamber of Commerce）积极响应此次公益行动，并号召本地商户及社区居民踊跃支持。商会主席Sally Harrison在致信中提到：“今年许多联邦补助未能发放至本地食品银行，社区的需求比以往更加紧迫。”她也特别感谢本地企业如谭华参茸行（TanHua Inc.）的持续支持，该企业去年曾捐款$500，今年也再次被邀请加入爱心行列。

Sally指出：“饥饿不会因假期而停止。尤其在孩子们放暑假期间，缺乏学校供餐的他们将面临巨大困难。我们需要大家一起行动。”

为推动募捐，United Food Bank将在夏季举办三场电视募捐（telethon）活动，由合作伙伴12 News提供支持，时间安排如下：

United Food Bank Launches “Summer of a Million Meals” Campaign

———Mesa Chamber Encourages Community to Join the Fight Against Hunger

This summer, thousands of families in Arizona are struggling to put food on the table. To help, United Food Bank has partnered with 12 News and Fry’s Food Stores to launch the 8th Annual “Summer of a Million Meals” campaign. The goal is to provide over one million meals to children and families in need. The campaign runs from May 16 through September 2, 2024 (Labor Day).

Mesa Chamber of Commerce is helping spread the word. Chamber President Sally Harrison called on local businesses and residents to support this important cause. She noted that last year, local business TanHua Inc. donated $500, and she hopes to see continued support this year.

“Summer hunger is real,” Sally said. “Many children lose access to school meals, while parents face higher electricity and childcare costs. Every dollar can make a difference.”
